Landing in Kenya

There is nothing more gutting than starting a long haul flight and realising that you are unable to watch any of the movies because your arm rest control panel does not work-it's been a long 8 hours!

Thankfully the flight itself was less traumatic, with inly slight turbulence and an amazing view of the sun setting over the Nile from the air and it was a great feeling to finally touch down in Africa. Gav (video man) says it smells of Africa but unfortunately I don't smell anything. Gav, who appears to be pretty knowledgable, says my nostrils will tune in to the smell. However, I feel bad for JP as, in case you didn't know, he only has one fully functioning nostril. Reassuringly we were met by Charles and George at the airport from Mary's Meals who will be showing us around this week. They seem to like my chat-although we are travelling a further 5 hours to Eldoret tomorrow so they may change their minds!

Interestingly, it is raining here (as it is now monsoon season) and thankfully the temperature is not too hot (16 degrees ish). We are staying in a hotel tonight, which is guarded by several security guards-we had to also be checked for explosives on the way in. Definitely not in Scotland now!

Layered up in mosquito spray and now desperately needing bed under the mosquito canopy.

Goodnight from Africa.
