Footprints ....

... in the snow.

This afternoon we wanted to check on the chippy from yesterday to see if he/she liked the peanuts/seeds that we left for it.  When we arrived at the Plainfield Rail Trail we checked on him/her right away .... which is easy as it's burrow is right at the beginning of the trail!

We didn't see the chippy today and it looked like most of the peanuts/seeds were still there.  That could mean a number of things ... A.) the chippy doesn't realize that these are edible and left for him/her to enjoy or B.) the chippy didn't come out of his/her burrow to investigate.

There was, however, an increase of birds in the area so something will be getting the food we left!

After checking on the chippy we walked up the trail for a little ways as we haven't been able to because of the cold.
