The Big Puddle

A very productive morning, starting off with a flu jab, known in Scotland as a flu jag. Either way I didn't feel a thing!

While having a coffee in Tesco's I met a friend who's a keen conservationist. We'd both been thinking about doing something to persuade the company to clean up their car park and surroundings - most of the town and lots of the tourists shop there and the place is pretty grotty. Between us we talked ourselves into inquiring if the manager could see us, but as he was away we were directed towards the duty manager - unfortunately she was probably more used to dealing with enquiries about stock, or how to work the hand-held scanners (she had one in her hand) but listened patiently to my positive enquiries (on behalf of Keep Oban Beautiful) and his critical comments (on his own behalf). She agreed to pass our views on, but also agreed that we should write to the manager, which we will both do! Project!

After leaving I drove along to the Lón Mór, that last piece of undeveloped wetland in Glenshellach, which is being encroached upon from all sides by housing development. Much of the water which goes on to form the Black Lynn Burn originates here. We at Keep Oban Beautiful are determined to find a way of stopping it's being filled in and built on, or developed into a 'country park' of the tarmac paths and street lights persuasion. I must want a job! I was interested to hear recently that within the last five years a water rail was sighted there. Anyway, it's my Blip for today.
