Bainham

There was a heavy rain warning for us in Northwest Nelson, but instead of staying indoors the day, we decided to go exploring the region, and the weather generally behaved itself while we were out and about.

Today we headed towards Bainham, and stopped at the Langford Store - it looks like it should perhaps be pulled down, it is actually a working shop and post office. The memorabilia contained in that store was amazing - and some things I remember from my childhood (I'm really not that old!).

We had a Devonshire tea at the store, with warm scones, raspberry jam and cream, with tea in China cups, plates and teapot (even with its own knitted tea cosy). It was amazing. See extra photos.

We toured on to the Salisbury Falls, which provided some great photographs, and then carried onto the end of the road to the start of the Heaphy Track. We were going to walk to the first hut, but being in the western ranges, the rain was starting to fall. Another time perhaps.

Heading back to Takaka, we stopped in at the Te Waikoropupu Springs which was a lovely 1km walk. It was an easy walk, going through native bush.

We've done some beautiful walks since we have been here. Tomorrow we head home (unfortunately), but we have lots of memories and photos that we will be able to remember our trip to Golden Bay.
