Suspect Package

You know that age is truly catching up when the police men and women look younger than some of one’s grandchildren. There were more police on duty in Princes Street this morning than I have seen for a very long time. They were stationed at the gates to Princes Street Gardens to prevent anyone entering as the park was shut for what a young fresh faced bobby called an ongoing incident.
He wouldn’t or couldn’t tell me more but advised me to watch tonight’s news.

Google was more helpful and mentioned a suspect package left in Kings Stables Road last night which was subsequently blown up after the road and Gardens were shut to the public. I imagine this might be the connection.........

There was another occurrence this morning at 10:30 that was a source of amazement to me. I managed to walk at a fairly fast pace all the way from Middle Meadow Walk to the High Street unhindered by any tourists.
Not one person was capturing Grey Friars’ Bobby on camera, nor were there any Orientals spilling over the pavement to photograph the Elephant House, which seems more than happy to assume ( wrongly as far as we Edinburghers know) JK Rowling’s visiting writes.

Where have people gone? This must be the quietest week of the year with few tourists and students not yet returned for semester2 at the University.
It makes such a wonderful difference to Central Edinburgh for this Lady. What’s not to like?
