Wash day

An incongruous exhibit at Brooklands Museum showcasing some vintage bicycles, as well as a line of washing.

Spent a great day at this amazing museum of airplanes, cars, motor bikes and the London Bus Museum. It is located at the Brooklands Race track which opened in 1907 and where the first British Grand Prix took place in 1926.

Brooklands was also one of the first British airfields - in 1908, and many planes were built there including military aircraft in WW2 and 30% of Concorde.

The British engineer and scientist, Barnes Wallis, inventor of the bouncing bomb (Dambusters film ) built a massive Stratosphere Chamber while working in Brooklands for Vickers Armstrong. This 1814.7m2 chamber has been restored and opened in 2014. It is an amazing space to experience. See extra.

It's a great hands on museum operating outdoors and inside aircraft hangers, sheds and workshops. Can fully recommend it for a good day out.
