A Day Worth Recording

Tdrive

Took T out for another learning drive this evening, having left E and A's.  This was a handy shop window where we parked to set up the satnav.

Modern driving tests involve a segment of testing whether you can follow a sat-nav (provided by the examiner).  While I may not be a fan of such things I can see the sense in testing that.

Depressingly learnt that T's 'proper' driving instructor is still teaching to go down through the gearbox on the approach to hazards.  I thought that went out several years ago.  It had in Cambridge, much to the delight of us as advanced driving tutors whose first job with most candidates was to unteach that particular unnecessary distraction.

Being a naff phone photo I've art'ed it - though it's an interesting illustration of how little actual data the brain needs to reconstruct a scene - an essential part of driving given that you never have time to completely process exactly what's going on ahead of you.
