Lunch at the Central Market

Today we enjoyed old fashioned real food (vegetarian) at the Adelaide Central Market. Here is a blip of other people sitting at the counter having lunch at the same stall where we ate. This stall cafe is called BIG TABLE, (probably as it is so small), and they make all their own fresh meals daily from produce sourced from the stalls around them
.
There is a lot going on in this photo so it is best to see this busy scene in LARGE.

I have been preparing a blog with the other market photos that just missed out on the blip of the day. Here is the link to it now.

The Adelaide Central Market consists of 80 stalls and is a community of people: traders, artisans and shoppers who share a passion for food. It buzzes with life and colour all year round and is "the Heart of Adelaide".

The range of fresh food is extensive, and it's all under one roof...fruit and vegetables, meat and poultry, seafood, gourmet cheeses, cakes and more. We love to shop or eat there and Paladian often shops there twice a week for our fruit and vegetables.

1870 was the year of the official opening of the Adelaide Central Market, and it was originally only open on Tuesdays and Saturdays with 50 to 100 produce carts. The market was recorded in history as having sold vegetables, fruit, hay, fish and game meats.

The Adelaide Central Market is South Australia's most visited tourist attraction and remains the food Mecca for multicultural cuisine and fresh produce. The Central Market still trades largely in fruit, vegetables, small goods, freshly caught fish, and café food.

It is divided into a colourful array of lanes and broadways, with free tastings on most days. What a source of great material for future blips!
