Rainy Concorde, Paris

We went to the Jeu de Paume today, probably Paris's most important venue for photography exhibitions, for a retrospective of Albert Renger-Patzsch (1897-1966), one of Germany's leading photographers of the 20th century.  It was wonderful, doing full justice to his extraordinary range of subjects, including plants, trees, rocks, rural and urban landscapes, and many seemingly ordinary things. The exhibition's title, in fact was simply "Things".

The gallery is located at the northwest corner of the large Jardin des Tuileries, at the edge of the Place de la Concorde. The blip shows the edge of the huge square following a bit of rain; the obelisk in the center and the Eiffel tower appear in the distance on the right. In the center is "La Roue", or The Wheel.
