"My Heart In Hiding ....

.... stirred for a bird."

It seems like my heart has been in hiding, firstly with the spell of dull weather and then not being able to get out with the camera, even though we have had bright spells recently.

I hung around this morning for a call that never came and went out briefly at lunchtime. As I was returning to the house I spotted a kestrel against a cloudless blue sky, catching the sunshine and being buffeted by a stiff breeze. My heart leapt. I'd got the long lens set for closer work so it felt like ages before the auto-focus locked onto the fleet falcon which "rebuffed the big wind."

My quotations are from the wonderful Windhover sonnet by Gerard Manley Hopkins.
