Muted colour

9.3C with rain all morning. Dry later in the afternoon. Little breeze.

Maeve the Deerhound and I went for our walk after lunch as the rain looked to have gone off. It did rain a lightly during our walk but we didn't really get wet. We went straight down the road to the shore today, and along to the road bridge over the railway. Down at Westhaven we went onto the beach at the car park and struggled through the deep soft damp sand and skirted round huge mounds of seaweed to get to the Fishermen's huts. The seaweed is very thick on the sand at this part of the beach at the moment and it looks very ugly as it is sucked out then pushed back up by the waves that come through the boat channel. The tides have been so high that the seaweed is right up to the thin line of dunes at the back of the beach. The water looked very brown today with lots of sand suspended in it, and very grey further out. Such a change from the bright days we had at the beginning of the month.

At the Fishermen's huts Maeve and I noticed that the owners of 'Valhalla VI' and 'Shamara II' were working hard on repairing the private road that comes along past the cottages at the point where it turns down between two of the middle huts. Looked like they had some sort of edging stones or concrete blocks in place and were packing stones on the road surface. Their next job might be to add stones to the gap between the huts where the vehicles come in as there are huge ruts and puddles there.

Down on the beach I took some close up shots of the floats and buoys and flags on poles that have been stowed away for the winter. I decided on some muted colour rather than dark mono for the blip :-)

Later there is the final of the 'Great British Bake Off' on telly. I like baking myself but don't do it often as there are just the two of us (not counting Maeve who would, of course, eat baked goods!). One of the finalists is the son of the Radio Scotland presenter Tom Morton who I listen to most afternoons so I have a favourite.
