If you can't beat them...

Greystoke.

The heaviest snow we have had all winter fell over night, only about three inches.  However it seemed to have been enough to delay the milk lady as there was no milk on the door step.  Mid morning I got my wellies on and wandered down to the village shop for more milk.

As we don't get a lot of snow I took the camera with me and took a few shots of the centre of the village.  The two important features in the shot are the cross and the castle gates.  The cross is an ancient market cross dating to the early 1600s.  There has been a "castle" on the site of the castle for about 1000 years.  However the original was largely destroyed by Cromwell the badly damaged by fire so much of the current building is Victorian.

The snow brought a Fieldfare into the garden.  We don't get more than one or two each year, so that was very nearly today's blip.
