Making tracks - and points to ponder

This afternoon I went to Rockfield School - once a primary school but now waiting for something to happen to it - and a 'Monthly Blether' in one of the playground huts. This month it was about railways, and the Oban railway in particular. The man who'd organised it had a special station sign made and put it up over the door!

There was an unexpectedly good turnout and everyone was asked to give their name and their connection with the railway. Quite a few people had direct connections - my friend Maurice Tindall, who is now 82, was a fireman on the steam trains when he was in his twenties - and many others had family connections. Some, like me, just like railways!

There was a slide show of old pictures and a lot of chat over tea and cakes. There's an exhibition of railway memorabilia connected with Oban from 2-4pm tomorrow and Sunday. I shall be back.
