The dropped stitch

looking into the waterbutt

During a sunny spell this morning I cleared the guttering at the front door which was full of ivy leaves.

Hopefully now the rain and melted snow from the roof will go down the drainpipe instead of splashing out of the gutter and into the waterbutt. It  has been filling up way too quickly and then has to be laboriously emptied with a watering can.
However, before I got it, a small lake formed at the front door every time it rained.

On balance I'd rather be emptying than paddling.
