Dubai Day 2 Jumeirah Beach skyline

Today we had a lazy day, doing some shopping along the beach front and then just lazing by the pool, really doing very little.  Yesterday, as we boarded the plane, Mr MC noticed that he had developed a nasty  attack of hives (urticarial) Its location led us to believe that it may have been a reaction to laundry cleaning products used on board our cruise ship, but we can't really be certain.  Anyway, a sleepless itchy night meant that a relaxing day was just the thing.  We were able to buy steroid cream from a large Boots pharmacy(yes, really) just a few yards from the hotel.  If that isn't effective, we'll go back for antihistamine tablets tomorrow.
This month the sun sets at around 5.45pm and is visible from our hotel (unlike last year when it disappeared early behind the new Blue Waters development.  I managed to get out the big camera to take a few shots and the result is I think, a typical Dubai skyline with  the ubiquitous tall buildings and plenty of cranes and equipment to indicate that many more structures are in the pipeline!
My extra is a hasty but rather comical shot of two of the Myna birds that gather around the pool area in the hope of a bite to eat: as you see, one has snatched a whole chip which he did NOT want to share!  In the end the other bird did manage to steal a bite.
