Groombridge Station

Shot showing the new station buildings that had to be built for the heritage steam train service that started in the early 1990s. The last regular passenger service was in the 1960s after which the original 1860s station building was sold ( now a house plus parish offices) . You can just see it the other side of the bridge. When the steam trains are running, passengers have to walk through the old station, luckily the current owners allow this, and walk down the platform to the new buildings.    PS have just been told by a friend who volunteers on this railway that they brought in these buildings from  another station- so they are rescued old ones- even better.  But she is not nerdy enough to know where they came from.
Met up with S&T.  T and Mr P walked to the pub the long way - 15km of muddy paths.  S & I  had a short walk round Groombridge in the "trying to snow"  chilly weather, home for a cuppa, then met the boys on the pub. They had earned their lunch. Not sure S&I had,  but she is injured and I felt I had to keep her company.
