Giant lanterns of China at Edinburgh Zoo

This evening we braved the snow and icy pavements for a trip to Edinburgh  Zoo with Véronique to see the temporary exhibition of giant Chinese lanterns. We soon forgot about the cold as we were mesmerised by the clever exhibits (and fortified by steaming paper cups of mulled wine). I took quite a lot of photos while we were there. This frog and the pagoda in my extra are my favourites.

In keeping with the theme of the evening, after marvelling at all the displays we crossed the road for supper in the Chinese restaurant opposite the zoo.

Otherwise it was a quiet day at home. We slept quite late after Saturday's late night of partying, then pootled around on various tasks domestic. These included planning a trip to Liverpool with Helen and Sarah (flatmates from my undergraduate days at the University of Birmingham), and finalising arrangements for lapsed blipper ClarissaFox and Mr Fox's visit to Edinburgh in March.

Exercise today: walking (only because it is still too icy to run or cycle) 11,744 steps
