The good ship Dan-a ...

..... well, it was a good ship once upon a time.

Several ships were disposed of off the western point of the island, deposited there to avoid becoming navigational hazards. The most prominent wreck in Quail Island's maritime graveyard is the 58m long barque, Dan-a, a sleek ship built for the Orient Line in 1865.
That will fit in with this week’s theme of ‘History’.

Our Wednesday paddle group headed off over to Quail Island this morning, and had a swim off Swimmers Beach. Such a relief to get into the cool water. The temperature driving back home was 33°. Was hot!

I've put another image of Cass Bay into Extras, showing our group leaving this morning.
