A trip to Fred Aldous after work for a new sketch/scribble/etc book, which is in a sort of art quarter (well maybe an eighth).  I didn't get exactly what I wanted but then I was being quite fussy (good size exercise book, dotted, not too thick and flexible so can use open and flat...).

Helped out with a UCAS open day; we get the prospective students in the lab making cars from lego which are powered by alka-seltzer.  They get a film canister to fix onto the car; the idea is they put some water and a tablet in, then put the lid on, and the pressure build-up propels the car a few metres.  Of course they are too young to know what these cylindrical plastic containers are for...film?
