Burns Night '18

Abstract Thursday: Burns Night '18

Inge's challenge for this week's Abstract Thursday was perhaps inevitably to the immortal memory of Robert Burns with the theme of 'twist/loop/twirl'.  I've gone for a sort of tartan-esque effect ...

I anticipate that you can probably work out what the original subject matter of this shot was?  The 'twist/loop/twirl' reference should help if you are unsure.

I've taken the photo and then heavily pushed the saturation to give these lovely strong colours.  The fartnarkling that has then taken place in Affinity Photo involved creating an affined layer and overlaying it on the original and then applying some rippling and twisting to add interest.  So there you have it, as clear as mud I suspect!

Many thanks to those of you that have been so kind to Monday's exploration of lycanthropy and yesterday's Wide Wednesday shot of the bombed out St Peter's Church in Bristol.

Now, it being Burns night I think its probably in order for me to nip out to the local hostelry to raise a wee dram in honour of the great man :-)

Its a good excuse isn't it?!

Later:

For those that were wondering, this is a shot of some brightly coloured cotton reels from Cathy's sewing kit.
