Lozarhythm Of The Day:
The Love Notes - United (1957)
The Love Notes were Johnny Hicks (who wrote United), Lucy Cedeno, who was still attending Vocational High in Brooklyn NY, Joe Shiloh and James Coney (bass vocal), and they had evolved out of the Ivories. No sooner had United been released than the group disbanded, "perhaps not unconnected with Coney's arrest for armed robbery", say the sleeve notes. The song was revived by the Jive Five in 1964/65. Lucy Cedero later married Gary 'U.S.' Bonds and was his backing vocalist on stage along with their daughter Laurie Anderson (no, not that one).
This appears on The Finbarr Golden Treasury Of Doo Wop Volume 11, played this day.
