Wot no beavers!

I don't normally go out with the conservation group two days running but saw today that they were making beaver dams. Very disappointed to get stuck in and find out that there are no beavers for miles. In fact the nearest beavers  are hundreds of miles away in Devon in the River Otter.  It turns out we were building a number of dams up the stream to slow the water when it floods so that the park does not get flooded. Instead it will flood up here in the woods where we have built a very fine mock wood plastic boardwalk that will not rot when it is underwater. Roger here is demonstrating the hazards of working with twiggy hazel, good job he has glasses on.  I would also mention that I have seen otters locally so perhaps Devon should rename their river River Beaver.
