Parbold

Saturday 3rd February 2018 (1983)(-5)

The day of the parish walk and this time I didn't have to organise it as someone else had volunteered to take the lead. We started at Appley Bridge and walked along the canal to Parbold. The highlight was seeing a kingfisher, albeit just as a blue flash as it flew down the river. We did wait for a while to see if it came back or perched but unfortunately not.

The leader had promised the group morning coffee at a cafe in Parbold. I said that was dangerous as they would want it every time. When we got there the cafe was closed for refurbishment! The route back was simply back along the canal the way we had come. It was very muddy in parts and, needless to say, it started raining. What a shame after the lovely day yesterday but it does always seem to rain on our walks, it makes the pub lunch even more welcome!
