Tussock Tales

Look South

I am always surprised with the changing view from Mt Iron. Given that The Boss and ME go up there about 3 times a week AND The Boss always carries a camera these days it is surprising that he keeps getting new images. Today started a bit cool but warmed up with the sun and The Boss was in retraining mode (Me not him) as I was never allowed to drift more than easy calling distance all the way up and down the other side.
Needless to say I behaved well...Well I would wouldn't I. Right.
At the top we were all surprised to see what appeared to be coming up the valley and didn't linger there but it never happened as the Northerly beat it back. This is a very common occurrence in Wanaka and the prevailing Northerly wind often saves us from Southerly weather. We love it. Well we would, wouldn't we?

On a different subject entirely Wanaka is choc full of talented folk that many have no knowledge of. A few years ago we had 2 very old English Lime trees on our property and we discovered that one of them was hollow and in danger of falling over so had to fell it. Knowing a local wood artist The B's donated the useable wood and it sat in a garage for a few years drying out to resurface in a garage where M was turning it into a penguin. The Boss had no idea that M, who they had known for some time, had these skills but to cut a long story short here is the proof, photographed by The Boss in M and C's lounge.
For the technical, 2 additional Halogen reading lights were added to the natural light which was filtered by a large sun umbrella tipped on it's side. I was not allowed to participate as M and C have a CAT. Hmmmmm.
Click here to view it on my portfolio page. It will be shown at the Labour weekend Art show and is NOT for sale.
