Day 038/18. Hellebore

Hellebore's are about the only flowering plant in our garden at this time of year.
Despite names such as "winter rose", "Christmas rose" and "Lenten rose", hellebores are not closely related to the rose family.
But did you also know that many hellebore species are poisonous? Symptoms of eating hellebores will include: burning of the mouth and throat, salivation, vomiting, abdominal cramping, diarrhea, nervous systems and possibly depression. Consuming large quantities of hellebore plants can be fatal to humans..... so don't go putting them in your salad by the bucketload.
