Day 039/18. HMS Ocean in Marchwood Port today.

HMS Ocean is an amphibious assault ship, and the UK's helicopter carrier. She was designed to support amphibious landing operations. She was constructed in the mid-1990s.
In December 2017, the Brazilian Navy confirmed the purchase of the ship for (GBP) £84.6 million. Following her decommissioning from Royal Navy service in March 2018, she will undertake a period of maintenance and is expected to arrive in Rio de Janeiro by the end of 2018 with the intention of being commissioned and fully operational by 2020. However recently the sale has been put in doubt and HMS Ocean may instead be heading for the scrapyards.


Marchwood Military Port is a military port located in Marchwood, Southampton on the south coast of the UK, and the base of 17 Port & Maritime Regiment Royal Logistics Corps The port was built in 1943 to aid in the D-Day assault on Normandy in 1944.
