Barbados Cherries....

The tallest of these 2 trees is somewhere's near the age of 5 or 6 years old. It is a great example of fine twigging and small leaves.  It is a great part of the illusion of age in this tree.   The other tree is about 1-2 years old.  The trunk is thickening and developing a texture in the bark.  The primary limbs are chosen, but here the limbs have gotten to long and without ramification.  Right now the tree is left to grow, while the tips are pinched back to encourage back budding on the older bark.  When ramification has been achieved, the limbs will then go to secondary branches and the start of twigging.
