Twenty four hours later

It’s been a long twenty four hours but we’re finally at our hotel in Johannesburg with Hildasrose, Rob and JJ.

After a tiring overnight flight, we were picked up from the airport this morning and taken on an over-long trip to the Voortrekker Monument in Pretoria where our guide for the holiday gave us an hour long talk on the history of South Africa. Most of us had lost the will to live after about half an hour and just wanted to get to our hotel all the way back down in Jo’burg.

Now resting up before meeting at 6.30 for an apperetif, an early dinner and bed. We have to be up at 6 a.m. (4 a.m. UK time) to have breakfast before heading on a six hour journey up to Kruger National Park for a few days.

This, as you might have guessed, is the Voortrekker Monument, which has been photobombed by my travelling companions.
