St James Church, Gerrards Cross

A concert this evening, part of the Amersham Festival, at St James Church, Gerrards Cross.

Really interesting inside.  Around here you tend to expect all churches to be hundreds of years old, yet this church was consecrated by the Bishop of Oxford in 1859, having been built at the sole expense of the sisters of General George Alexander Reid, who was MP for Windsor.

The interior is very plain, and looking up during one piece in the programme (no, I wasn't bored!) I noticed this lovely dome.

Need to go back and look at this in daylight.
