Sunday: Don't Mess With Nature

We had a lovely full day today.  The weather was beautiful so we took a drive out to Finn Slough, near Richmond.  It's a very unusual waterside community of people who live slightly off grid, and who are mainly descended from a group of Finns who settled there in the early 1900s.

From there we drove to Steveston - they have a great bookstore there where I bought a couple of books as I don't have enough (!).  On the way home we stopped off at the cat sanctuary where K. volunteers a couple of days a week so that she could introduce me to some of her favourite cats.  There are some real characters there.  It's a no-kill shelter and they have about 450 cats there, all roaming round the place.  Some of them have been there so long it's the only environment they know.

We rounded off the day by heading to 'Darby's' for a couple of beers and something to eat.
