Thick slice

A much-reduced brew day. Just a wee batch since the hot water heater was on the blink after one of the elements went a bit leaky around the electrical parts, which is not a mix to be encouraged. Still, even starting at 8 and heating the water with the gas burner, I was still done by noon. And by then the replacement elements had arrived although getting the second, less leaky one off was a bastard and it’s corroded edge has left me with neatly sliced fingers. A full frontal assault with the Dremel and it’s little metal cutting disks was needed. All sorted so it’ll be back in action on Wednesday. After that it was all cleaning and sticking beer in casks before the now traditional hour’s frantic piano catch-up before the lesson. Limited progress was noted. Michael Nyman’s quite tricky. It’s been a month and I’m still not past the first five bars.

This guy will prove overnight in the fridge and get a couple of hours to warm up tomorrow before getting bunged in the oven.
