Tay Estuary

It was another crisp winter’s day so we set off for Fife to go up a couple of Marilyns. The first was the tautologous Mount Hill, north west of Cupar. It’s a short walk through farmland and forest to the top where there is yet another Hopetoun Monument adorning the highest point. The first extra is a panoramic view of the southern Cairngorms looking fine under a good cover of snow. We then drove to our second hill, Norman’s Law and walked up to the hill fort and summit cairn. Norman’s Law has a much better view than Mount Hill as there are fewer trees. The blip is the view of the western end of the Tay Estuary with Stuc a’ Chroin and Ben Vorlich in the background. The second extra is a fine Heilan Coo in a field on the way up the hill with the lower Tay Estuary and the Lochnagar Hills beyond.
