Wild, wind and wet

We slept ok and were up pretty sharpish as this morning we are off for a couple of days, to Morecambe. We are going to stay in one of only a handful of listed art deco hotels in the UK, The Midland Hotel. You can read more here if you wish https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Midland_Hotel,_Morecambe#Construction

We stopped off near Garstang for a sandiwch lunch, then headed up through Lancaster....we should have made it to Morecambe by 2.30, but we hit so many roadwork delays that it was nearer 3.30, by which time the best of the weather had passed.

We checked in, headed up to our room, with a great sea view, and as you do, even in a buffeting wind, I stepped outside on the balcony.......nearly got blown off my feet, but glad I did, as this incoming squally sleety shower was heading our way, grabbed the camera, blip done!

We met up with our friends for a meander around the hotel taking in its style.

Later the four of us met for a pre dinner cocktail, followed by a really great three course dinner, a complementary glass of fizz, and a nice bottle of red.....an altogether very nice evening.

We are not very good at sleeping in a strange place on a first night, so not overly optimistic............fingers crossed :-/
