Fife coastal trail

Watching a coast as it slips by the ship is like thinking about an enigma. There it is before you, smiling, frowning, inviting, grand, mean, insipid, or savage, and always mute with an air of whispering, "Come and find out".

I pick up a letter from West Linton health centre, so that Claire can get an X-ray in Fife. Then to Kinghorn and Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy where they tell us they won’t accept the letter. Two faxes and two hours later NHS Borders and NHS Fife were no closer to agreeing - so we left in disgust.

We parked at St Monans harbour, grabbed a quick soup in the Gannet, and strutted off along the coast. Through Pittenweem, Anstruther to Crail where we’ve got an AirBnb on the high street.

The evening is spent in the East Neuk Hotel where they have fine food and drinks. We’re in luck - the karaoke isn’t until next week.
