A herd of curlew

A lovely day , sunny and blue skies. We went to see the snowdrops again at Poyntzfield and they are probably at their best just now especially with the sunlight on them.
We had a chat with the owners of the Herb garden. He’s been there since 1976 and said how much the snowdrops and aconites had spread in that time.I asked him about a carving at the start of the drive way and he told us that he did nt really know it’s history but he thought it was the bible and the bowls and spoons were perhaps a reference to the feeding of the 5000.
On to Cromarty and a walk round the reed loop.We watched the clouds developing over Cromarty and got caught in a very brief shower.Lovely rainbow over the Sutors. A whole ‘herd’ of curlew flew and landed near where we were standing and started to have a good preen, the light landing on them. Red shank and oyster catchers seemed to like the same spot as well.
