Life, not as we see it.

Early morning Ramboda, Sri Lanka

Day 5 (20/02) Nuwara Eliya to Galle via Colombo.

Today we should have been taking the shooglie railway to Colombo, and then car to Galle however as the train was already fully booked (There's a pattern emerging here, no?) we travelled the whole way by car. 7 hours including comfort breaks.

Instead of Galle, we have been put in a seaside resort some 15 km north thereof, Hikkaduwa. We are in an hotel ,”H... Beach Resort”, so called because A) it's on the beach and B) you have to resort to buying beer outside on the street, as the hotel bar has no beer!!!!

Anyway, we've had our first dip in the Indian Ocean this afternoon, and have found a dive which sells the local Lion beverage at a very reasonable price (Circa £3/ltr.)
Also lay on derelict loungers by the pool, surrounded by some very large people. Think BBC McMafia, if you will. They think this is 5 star, the hotel's website says 4 star, Trip adviser says 3 star, and many commentators recon the stars have fallen, elsewhere.

Today's extra snaps: Hanuman Temple ( Hindu – Monkey god) at Ramboda, beach view from today's hotel room & Sunset from hotel balcony,

Up even before sparrow fart tomorrow, to go whale watching + other delights.

Adieu,

G
