Water Jar from Souss

Len and I have been clearing out the drawers in our cupboards, so that we can find stuff and don't feel burdened with the weight of ALL those socks. How can you accumulate so many pairs of socks and tights?

There's some space now but there's even more cupboard to go.

If you've been reading along with my blips, you may remember I mentioned that Aziz lent me this water jar from Souss on Sunday. The River Souss flows from the High Atlas mountains in Morocco, meeting the Atlantic south of Agadir.

It would be fascinating to learn more of the traditions of decoration used in the area. This pot certainly has the Berber style, characteristic of the northern Sahara Desert. It's unglazed since its purpose was to hold water and keep it cool by evaporation through the walls of the pot.

Basil has been rather fed up with the lack of attention while we were clearing cupboards. Len has taken him out for a walk. I intend to motor down to Morrisons's to see if there is any fresh gluten free bread there.  The coeliac mafia have been spreading the word on Facebook that Morrison's is making a very nice gluten free loaf.

Must dash. It'll probably all be sold out by the time I get there.
