Feral

Had an excellent breakfast and then set out on the last leg (140 miles or so) - D had a yearning to take the route via the Grey Mare's Tail. It was very beautiful, with only fairly sensible grown-up sheep occasionally wandering across the road - although the pot-holes and precipitous verges were quite alarming. No sign of any end-of-financial year road-mending activity. But we were delighted to see several of the semi-legendary feral goats that live in the glen, quite near the roadside. They're handsome fellers, and surprisingly big!

We stopped off at Dobbies (a confusing place if you go in there knowing what it is you're trying to buy, rather than just browsing), and also the allotment to drop off some of our spoils. D had got even fancier food for the birdies, who hung about on the telephone wires watching him fill up the feeders.

We went across to the Carriers for a beer before collapsing into a hot bath. Aaaa-a-a-aaah!
