Scrub Jay

It looks very similar to the Mexican Jay I posted few days ago but its color is much bluer and the Mexican Jay is only found in Arizona.

We had a lovely hike in Red Rock Canyon today with some friends from L.A. who flew in to see us.  They are staying at the Red Rock Casino and Hotel which is only a couple of miles from my son's house. As can only happen in Las Vegas and for completely unexplained reasons, when they went to check in, they were upgraded to a $7000 a night, 4500 square foot penthouse suite.  They immediately called us to come and have a look.  We were dumbfounded.  A full dining room that seats 12, a full bar that seats at least 8, two very large conversation areas, each with large screen T.V.'s. , Two bedrooms, each with large jacuzzi's, pop-up TV's at the end of the beds, massage rooms, large walk-in showers with so many nozzles, you almost need a life preserver, heated toilet seats, TV's and telephones in the toilets, No mini-fridge in this place -there was a full-size Sub Zero .refrigerator stocked full of soft drinks, beer and wine.  An iPad to operate everything and buttons and pads on all the walls to control everything....it would take a week to figure it all out. Far too high tech for 60 somethings.  It was quite over the top and we were quite amused by it all.  The best part was that this suite occupied 1/3 of the top floor, had a full balcony and it looked out over the Red Rock Canyon.  What a view!  I will put a shot of the view in the extras.  Needless to say, they are enjoying the opulence.
