Breaking the Long Fast

The bathroom nymph has had a proper meal at last! Ever since I found him on the bathroom window ten days ago he has stayed the same size, and his condition has visibly deteriorated. Since he has remained in the same place that I put him I have been able to check on him daily. This morning I didn’t think he would survive, but an hour later he had a fly and was tucking in.

Other good news on the praying mantis front- the new adult I blipped a few days ago is definitely a male. Males seem always to be scarce in my garden, even though this species is not known to engage in cannibalism.
