Unusual Visitor

The arctic blasts have driven birds to seek food and shelter in town gardens. Today I've had thrushes, wood pigeons, blackbirds, a wren, bluetits,a robin and a Fieldfare.

This is the first time I've seen a Fieldfare in my small garden - according to the RSPB, "May come into gardens in severe winters when snow covers the countryside."  Got it in one!

Bitterly cold and chaotic wind snow, gales and ice continue in many areas of the UK. Northampton has had its share, remaining below minus 5C all day with snow falling on snow all day. Thinking especially of those in Scotland and the south-west who have officially 'life-threatening' conditions.
