Botanical Study

I have always admired those wtaer colour botanical studies owned by the likes of Kew and the RHS, and wish I had the skills and patience to create them myself.  However, I can but try to emulated them in a photograph.

So here you have it:  a tulip head which I have carefully cut in half to show the stamen and stigma.

Technical bit: It was lit from behind using a home-made lightbox (a daylight lamp inside a box with a "lid" made of tracing paper to diffuse the light). I used an LED torch inside a bag, to again diffuse the light, to give some front lighting.  A little light processing in LR completed the image.
