Finally Homeward

The morning brought news of all trains north of Newcastle being cancelled; so the Gatwick flight was canned. Flights proved even more difficult than the day before. The earliest I could get back was Sunday. So the morning was spent working in the hotel, with a plan then to visit the Girl with the Pearl Earring later, and with a free Saturday, Rotterdam, then the Escher Museum.

Until. Ferry from Amsterdam to Newcastle. Suggested on Facebook, and followed up. The trip home was on. Taxi, train, taxi got me to the terminal, and thence, after a delay, to my cabin. Space, decent meal, bar to sit in in the evening. Have to say, it's more civilised than flying.... Though expectedly, after wanting to do anything to get home, I'm now thinking it would've been nice to go to Rotterdam....
