Survivor

This rare wild Fern seems to have survived the ravages of the Siberian weather.

I believe there are only three sites in North West England where it grows successfully. The problem is that its ideal habitat is on a vertical rock face which has water seeping gently down. Hence in very cold spells icicles are inevitable.

This particular plant also has to cope with salt spray from storms in the estuary.
It seems to be tough. It had a very good year in 2017.
