The Flower Fields, Carlsbad

This is just part of the famous (in Southern California) Ranunculus Flower Fields of Carlsbad http://www.theflowerfields.com. The fields are open to visitors from 1st March to the middle of May. The best time to see the displays are in later in the month and in April. So early in the year only this field, south facing, was in bloom. The plants are grown for their bulbs which are sold world wind. We visited the Fields on our first trip over to California in April 2012, which was for me, pre blip days.

It’s our last full day in California, weather was good so we made the best of it traveling to Oceanside for a walk along the beach and out onto the pier. A coffee was called for as well as a visit to the Carlsbad Premium Outlet Centre for a quick mooch around the stores.

After a quick trip to the supermarket we went to see Chris, De’Shaun and Landon for our last evening, cooking them stuffed peppers with roasted potatoes and veg, followed by her own apple pie for De’Shaun while we made inroads into a peach pie with ice cream.

Landon was much better today but he has very generously passed on his cold to me as I’ve had a sore throat all day, Lots of smiles and giggles. We’ll miss him and his mum and dad.
