So clever

We have Jackdaws who have taught themselves how to get to the bird feeders, even though they are far too big and heavy. At first it was only one of them, but then it seemed several of them could do it. And two at a time now. Sometimes they can only stay on for a few seconds, but these two were quite happy for a while.

Jackdaws are known be clever and able to learn new skills.  The smallest of the Crow family, they are recognisable by the silvery sheen to the back of the head and those pale, piercing eyes.

This had to be taken from the window, as they would have flown away if they heard any sound. I was surprised that the photo came out as it did, because the windows were at the time just awful - after this. We have had the window cleaner call by and clean them now - much better.
