Where the Light Gets In

i tried to make one

Today, Suzanne Barry's portrait of her friend Candice prompted me to try something I'd wanted to do for a long time: a portrait (here a selfportrait, but I'm sure I'll try with others!) that looks a bit like a wet plate collodion portrait. Obviously I have to refine my technique (my selfportrait, for one, is probably too sharp - yes, there can be such a thing as a too sharp photo) and I've applied my homemade "wet plate filter" uniformly.

Still, for a first try (for a second and a third, see extras - for the first extra, I took my portrait with my Helga pinhole lens), I'm rather happy.

I had a few other photos I could have blipped today, but in the end experimentation won.
