Wee Sweet Peppers

Last spring I bought a little capsicum plant on a whim. The label had a cartoon character and the words, “Mad Hatter snack capsicum.” I replanted it in a big pot in the greenhouse, and it grew and grew. A lot of flowers turned into little green pods, which grew slowly. A few weeks ago I trimmed off all the branch ends to concentrate growth in the 40-odd pods. At long last they are ripening into tasty little sweet peppers, a good size for my one person meals. They can be eaten green too, so it won’t matter if they don’t all ripen before the cold sets in.
