Bridge 147

This is Powell's Bridge, the second to last bridge on the main branch of the Shropshire Union Canal. It would have been the closest one to Ellesmere Port wharf when it was built in 1795 and therefore the final original bridge. It is a Grade II listed building but no longer carries traffic and is just used for pedestrians although it doesn't go anywhere useful so can't be used much.

The road system in the area has changed dramatically since it was built and there are two ugly bridges either side of it which I have previously blipped. Bridge 146a carries the M53 while the final bridge, Bridge 147a, leads to the Boat Museum and industrial estate.
