A Day Worth Recording

Maggiore

backblip and SOOC

Early(ish) morning sun on Lake Maggiore at Locarno.

It's not obvious from this picture but we were rather taken aback by the amount of flotsam in the lake - lots of wood from twig to tree trunk.  Apparently there had been heavy storms recently and this has all been washed down.

Today we explored on foot, initially around the lake then across towards Ascona which occupies the other half of the peninsula.  That was the plan. However, when wandering we don't really do plans and found a path by a river that headed off at 90 degrees so we followed that.

Quite some time later we picked our way back into Ascona (as best our map could guide us) and down to the lakeside, which was equally gorgeous and full of timber.

Then we headed back by what can only be called a long route, around the edge of the lake.

Pizza tonight.  When in Rome... well, in somewhere that think's it's Italy, anyway.

Last full day tomorrow - time for some altitude...
